I rarely have clients complain about my fees (it is much more common for them to be surprised that my fees are lower than they expected). No matter how reasonable (or lower than reasonable) my fees are, it is important that you know what I am charging for the services I perform.
Here are some things to keep in mind as you consider the cost of retaining (“hiring”) me to work for you:
most of the work I do is based on a fee for a specific transaction (in other words, I charge to get certain results accomplished, on the expectation of how that work will proceed)
sometimes the work does not proceed as we expect: in those cases, my fee can be increased beyone the amount you or I originally anticipated
when the work does go beyond what we expect (e.g., if it is not a “simple will” or a “straightforward residential conveyance”, my fee will be based on an hourly rate (currently $240 per hour)
